Albatros Beach Hotel

If you are planning on staying on the beach front in Letrojanni then look no further than the Albatros Beach Hotel. Recently renovated in a contemporary style it provides a comfortable relaxed environment. ROOMS Rooms are modern with a good sized bathroom (showers only, no bath) but unfortunately we were allocated one of the smaller bedrooms. This would have been fine for a single traveller but for a couple both hanging and drawer space were extremely limited, consequently we ended up living out of our suitcases for the week we stayed. Rooms do have balconies but particularly in the case of rooms overlooking the courtyard, these tend to be in close proximity to other rooms balconies and you are overlooked. FOOD AND DRINK We ate in the restaurant on a number of occasions during our stay and the three course package at €30 is very reasonable and the menu changes daily. We were introduced to the head chef Valerio and it is clear from our conversation he is passionate about both his food and the kitchen which is evident in both its variety, quality and presentation. Breakfast is self service but there are staff available and again there is plenty of choice although the overall leaning is to sweet items which is possibly slightly unusual to people from the UK. There is also a beach bar option (snacks) available during the day unfortunately, we didn’t realise this until the last day of our holiday but the impression was these were reasonably priced and sufficient in variety. STAFF Without doubt all the staff we met were pleasant, friendly and genuinely happy to help. If we were to single anyone out it would be Lucy in the restaurant who was energetic, extremely personable and just an absolute delight. Thank you also to Tamara in the bar who provided first class service during our stay. OTHER If you are thinking of venturing to Taormina, taxis do tend to be expensive (€30 one way approximately). The hotel shuttle will cost you €5 euro per person per trip (€10 euro return) so much cheaper but of course lacks the flexibility of a taxi. Local bus service is €2.20 (!!) per person return again, less flexible but what value! In summary, a spotlessly clean, modern hotel which we would not hesitate to recommend.

Very nice hotel with a few minor *******. It was spotlessly clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Housekeeping did a good job every day. There's no lounge/ bar except a small meeting room which was always full . We presumed they were welcome meetings. We couldn't even get a sandwich one evening when we'd been out all day and just wanted a snack. No food available apart from a full meal in the restaurant . Breakfast was fabulous apart from no decaff coffee! Very strange in this day and age. There was decaff tea but not coffee. Seats round the pool, which was very small, were Very uncomfortable. Sunbeds and towels had to be paid for @15euros a day for 2 beds and 2.5 euros for 2 towels. Bedroom storage was very tight . All in all e had a lovely week there.

Our expectations of this Hotel were influenced by Guests who painted a different picture to the one we found. This is a nice location in a nice town an a modern recently updated ‘Boutique’ type Hotel. Our Sea View Room was large airy and spacious with a decent bathroom -air con-comfortable bed and pillows. However storage and wardrobe space is at a premium and whilst there is shelving along one wall this just creates a messy room. Housekeeping is not the best and our experience of finding our room unserviced most days until after 14.00 having left our room at08.30 was not good.Housekeeping staff were still servicing rooms until 15.00 most days. The Restaurant was in the main good for both Breakfast and Dinner although at times when large groups of guests were in the Hotel the service times were extended Much is made by reviewers in respect of the Barista Coffee Service at Breakfast- our experience was around the self-serve Coffee Machine which broke once and we got one cup of Barista made coffee.

Very good hotel, very clean, helpful and pleasant staff. Nicely situated next to the beach and lots beach bars and restaurants. The breakfast was good and recommended to include in your package. We travelled Jet2 and they managed the transfers which was very useful as otherwise public transport is a bit sketchy especially if arriving late. Quite a few add on to watch out for: sunbeds and towels extra, the hotel has a shuttle service at a small charge is worth it for door to door transport. If you are travelling with Jet2 consider upgrading from the classic room to superior, with a seaview. Some of the classic rooms are positioned at the back of the hotel and are more suited to short stays. Letojanni is a nice quiet resort with plenty of inexpensive seafront bars, gelataria and restaurants. Day trips up to Taomina are easy but anywhere else is a bit of a journey.

This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The staff are so polite and helpful and nothing is too much bother for them. The housekeeping team do an incredible job and the hotel is spotlessly clean throughout. We loved our week in Letojanni and the Albatros Beach Hotel made it even better.

In my opinion this is not a hotel for children. However this is an excellent hotel in all other respects, Modern, bright, airy and spotlessly clean with fantastic staff especially in the restaurant. My only gripe is my wife unpacked and hung up/put away her clothing and though through years of traveling we travel light there was nowhere for my clothes, I lived out of a suitcase for a week.

We spent two weeks at the Hotel Albatros at the end of May, beginning of June 2024. We found all the staff on reception to be professional, efficient and friendly. Their English was excellent (unlike our Italian). There are 2 fast lifts that take you to all four floors. I had emailed ahead to request a high floor with sun in the afternoon and that was exactly what we got. The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and the dinner consists of a 3-course meal chosen from the menu that rotates once a week. The food is excellent but don’t expect a salad or a separate bowl of vegetables to accompany your dinner. Desserts are very sweet. We were surprised that there was no ice cream/gelato, fresh fruit or cheese and crackers on the menu. The presentation is excellent. The dining staff are great, friendly and very efficient. A large bottle of water with dinner is €3.50 and a glass of red wine is €5.00. The restaurant, in our opinion, lacked atmosphere for dinner, possible due to the bright lighting. The bedrooms are fine and are cleaned daily. The beds are really comfortable. Ours (404) lacked drawer space which is probably ok if you’re not staying too long but we were there for 2 weeks. It wasn’t a problem as we just kept some of our clothes in our cases which we placed on the 3rd bed/sofa. You might want to take some hangers too. There is a fridge that comes with chargeable drinks. We had a bottle of complimentary water and some oranges. Slippers are also provided. The bathroom had a large shower, shampoo, soap and shower gel. We requested a bath mat for inside the shower which seemed to arrive within minutes of our request. Check your travel adaptors, I had read reviews prior to leaving home and just ordered 3 x UK to Italy straight 3 pin adapters from Amazon. My usual adapters would definitely not have worked. The hotel has to “rent” the beach in front of the hotel from the government. This is the reason that all along the Letojanni beachfront, there will be a charge for sunbeds. The beach is shingle and stones, the sea is crystal clear but cold at the end of May. Sunbeds were charged at €15 for 2 including a parasol and this price was due to go up in June to €20. There is a changing hut on the beach and a shower. There is also a lifeguard. I’d advise you to take your own towels and bring swim shoes for those stones. There is a small pool at the hotel. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to Taormina, this is priced at €5 per trip (€10 return). You can also get the Interbus from Piazza Cagli for €6 return, it’s not far to walk there and they run much more frequently than the hotel shuttle. You can buy the tickets at the café/bar opposite the bus stop (you’ll see the “Ticket” sign for the interbus and the “Hop on – hop off” bus on their wall). We tried it once when an event (cycle race) stopped the hotel shuttle from operating. It was fine. Taormina was our favourite place, shops, restaurants, great views, a great park. We went mor

I have just returned from my second visit at this wonderful hotel .. loved my stay this time as much as the last . The breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice, especially there delicious cakes. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms include all the amenities, they are cleaned every day to a high standard . One of my friends was ill during our stay and the hotel arranged a doctors appointment and taxi All the staff were friendly and helpful , but a special mention to Domenico on reception, he is always smiling and welcoming and Lucy in the restaurant , again always happy and smiling .. Am hoping to visit again in the future
